To celebrate Pride safely, Pride San Antonio’s annual parade and festival are being combined into one virtual event wthat will include livestream performances, special guests, tutorials and more. UTSA will host a virtual screening of the documentary that explores the life of Arthur “Hap” Veltman, who opened the city’s first gay nightclub. Tuesday, June 22, noon, Hap Veltman’s San Antonio Country LGBTQIA+ historian and archivist Melissa Gohlke will discuss the history of pride celebrations in San Antonio based on information from UTSA Libraries Special Collections. Tuesday, June 22, 6 p.m., register at Out and Proud in San Antonio June 22 for a virtual Q&A about their experiences as LGBTQ+ artists. Participants can watch the films on their own at home and then join the filmmakers at 6 p.m.

Two local bands will be performing throughout the event and the brewery will also announce its new Puro Pride Pale Ale, which features a “touch of hibiscus and blueberries.” Part of the proceeds from every pint and can sold will directly benefit Fiesta Youth, which hosts programming to support LGBTQ+ youth and their allies. Künstler Brewing is partnering up with nonprofit Fiesta Youth for an all day celebration to benefit the youth LGBTQ+ community. San Antonio’s USL soccer team is celebrating pride during its June 19 game against Rio Grande Valley FC.
